The MLRC is a research center focused on teaching and learning. Our goal is to advance educational outcomes for multilingual learners through innovative and socially just research and research–practice partnerships. The MLRC is part of the University of Wisconsin—Madison School of Education and is located within the Wisconsin Center for Educational Research.
The Global Safeguarding Collaborative (“the GSC”) is a 501(c)3 educational non-profit organization committed to ensuring all students around the world are protected by effective safeguarding practices regardless of their school’s location, financial status, or access to resources. Founded in 2019, the GSC was incorporated as a Massachusetts-based non-profit organization in 2023 and is governed by a 10-person Board of Directors. As of January 2025, we have 650 members in approximately 485 schools in 89 countries.
As a Collaborative, the GSC actively supports and encourages the exchange of information and resources between members who are primarily safeguarding leads, school counselors, administrators, and other safeguarding professionals working with children. In addition to support and resources, the GSC also offers external coaching, safeguarding system audits, and the opportunity for schools to distinguish their commitment to safeguarding through the GSC-Endorsed School initiative.
Funds generated through donations and fee-based services directly support the GSC’s mission by providing scholarships for professional development, compensating facilitators and content creators, and covering operational expenses. This ensures equitable access to essential safeguarding resources and expertise while fostering a global culture of safety and protection for all students.
