  • Join a live session to reflect, discuss, and apply ideas
  • Connect conference content to their own school context

Facilitators will

  • Guide conversation rather than present content
  • Help participants connect ideas across sessions
  • Support reflection based on real school contexts

Time Commitment

Estimated total commitment: 4–5 hours

Preparation

  • Preparation and review: 1–2 hours
  • Session planning: 30–45 minutes

Live Facilitation

  • Live facilitation: approximately 90–120 minutes total
  • Communication and coordination: approximately 30 minutes

Required Preparation

Facilitator info session

All selected facilitators are required to attend a 1-hour virtual preparation session with SENIA coordinators prior to the conference. This session is designed to ensure you feel confident and fully prepared to lead your Masterclass.

The session will cover

  • Masterclass structure and expectations
  • Best practices for facilitating discussion-based sessions
  • Logistics, communication, and attendance tracking
  • Time for questions and clarification

Key Responsibilities

What facilitators are responsible for

1

Review the conference format

Understand the virtual conference structure and review facilitator expectations.

Estimated time: 30 minutes
2

Review your assigned strand

Explore session titles and descriptions. Select three presentations for Day 1 and three presentations for Day 2, then identify key themes to guide discussion.

Estimated time: 1–2 hours
3

Communicate with participants

Introduce yourself by email and share meeting times, session links, assigned videos for each day, and participation expectations.

Estimated time: 20 minutes
4

Schedule your sessions

Host two live sessions on Saturday, November 21 and Sunday, November 22. Each session should be 45–60 minutes. Recommended timing is between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM in your local time.

Estimated time: 15 minutes
5

Prepare discussion questions

Create 3–5 discussion questions per session. Questions should connect ideas to real school settings, reflect regional context, and encourage practical application.

Estimated time: 30–45 minutes
6

Facilitate live sessions

Open the session, welcome participants, introduce the strand, highlight selected sessions, guide discussion, summarize key insights, and encourage continued engagement.

Two sessions: 45–60 minutes each
7

Track attendance

Record attendance for both sessions and submit it afterward. Optional: capture a group photo for community sharing.

Estimated time: 10 minutes

What makes a strong facilitator

  • Conversational: encourages dialogue, not lectures
  • Practical: focuses on real-world application
  • Context-aware: grounds discussion in regional realities
  • Inclusive: invites diverse perspectives
  • Flexible: adapts based on group needs

Before you opt in

  • You can attend and facilitate both live sessions on November 21 and 22
  • You can prepare in advance by reviewing session content
  • You can communicate with participants ahead of time
