The role of a Teacher Rep
Advocacy &
representation
- Represent the voice of teachers and students with special educational needs within their school, local chapter, and the regional SENIA network.
- Promote awareness of inclusive practices and policies to school leadership and staff.
Communication &
networking
- Act as a point of contact between SENIA and your school community.
- Facilitate sharing of information, resources, and professional learning opportunities with colleagues.
Professional
development
- Encourage and support ongoing professional learning related to special education and inclusive practices.
Leadership &
collaboration
- Provide mentorship or peer support to colleagues who are new to inclusive education or the school’s SEN practices.
Resource &
program support
- Assist in the development and dissemination of tools, strategies, and frameworks for inclusive teaching.
- Contribute to chapter initiatives, conferences, and online forums to strengthen the SENIA community and its impact.

Can I be a chapter board member and a Teacher Representative at the same time?
We would like for anyone who serves as a Local Chapter Board member and a Teacher Representative to find a terrific replacement as Teacher Rep so you can focus especially on your role as a Local Chapter Board member. Who can you pull in to serve in this important role?
Which SENIA resources should I focus on in my role as a Teacher Rep?
The three main platforms geared towards Teacher Representatives are:

I will be moving at the end of the school year and will no longer be a Teacher Rep at my current school. Who should I notify?

Can we have more than one Teacher Representative at our school?
You can! Both teachers must have Administrator approval submitted via this Google Form.
